College Directions Program

The KHCC College Directions Program (CDP) provides college and career preparation, post-secondary planning, and retention services to hundreds of Bronx youth annually. 

KHCC opened its College Directions Program in 1991 to support students who were falling through the cracks of their schools' spotty advising system, with huge counselor to student ratios. The program has continued to grow and expand, now moving into local schools by opening up Student Success Centers.

Our main site College Directions Program provides a safety net for youth who do not receive the necessary focus and attention in developing a realistic postsecondary plan within their schools. Teens can access the program outside of the school day, and spend more time meeting with staff, exploring career pathways, and connecting with mentors who can help them sort the myriad of choices. The program results in higher rates of Bronx youth pursuing college and/or training and workforce opportunities after high school, and eventually having access to higher paying jobs and more fulfilling careers.
